I really like Mello having a rosary. I might be projecting a little, but I like the image of him being a kind of almost-Catholic who's got 0 faith but for some reason finds himself keeping a rosary nearby. (clarified in case its confusing :' )

I always thought a rosary was a really powerful image, prolly much more so than artists give it credit for when they include it in pictures/on characters. I think they tend to throw around Catholic symbols a lot in DN while missing the meaning of them.. which is too bad, cos I feel like it could have added a little depth to some chars. Though they are pretty cool looking.

Its almost like adding a swastika to a char to look cool while not intending him to be a nazi? C'mon guys lmao

Anyway, you're not really supposed to wear it (like Mello does), and no Catholics really pray it anymore because it takes a LONG ass time to pray properly (Maybe thats just up here though). Really only nuns do it these days, usually otherwise its just a pretty thing to keep around or give as gifts on religious holidays/ceremonies. So the rosary is kind of a big deal.
